I suspect AUOB is about to fall foul of the idiotic tribalism which has infected the Yes movement. Getting the seal of approval (kiss of death?) from the SNP may not be the best thing that ever happened to the organisation. Being listed alongside 'friends' of the SNP such as the Scottish Green Party and … Continue reading Be careful what you wish for

Just another ‘initiative’?
I have been perusing the shiny new agreement cooked up thrashed out by the SNP/Scottish Government and the Scottish Green Party (SGP) rather clumsily titled Working Together to Build a Greener, Fairer, Independent Scotland. I confess to having only skimmed the sections on shared policies in areas such as climate change, economic recovery etc. There … Continue reading Just another ‘initiative’?
How can I vote Green in 2021?
I have a question. Given that the ballot will not set out any vision or result in the election of any government which has set out a vision, how are voters supposed to vote for their preferred vision? Or to put it another way, how are voters supposed to know what vision they are voting for?
Didn’t I tell you?
If I had entertained any doubts that Acronym for Independence was never going to lure the established parties into their web those doubts were very effectively dispelled when I was treated to the unedifying spectacle of their representatives participating in an online debate a few weeks ago.
Are you asking the right question?
At present - and for our purposes there not only is no time like the present but no time other than the present - the only party capable of forming this pro-independence government is the Scottish National Party (SNP). That is a fact so far beyond doubt as to render questioning pointless. Even if there was a different or better answer further along the chain there is no time to get to that answer never mind implement the new solution. It's the SNP or nothing. So, regardless of any other consideration, shouldn't that be where all our efforts and resources are directed?
Not quite green, more of a dirty yellow colour*
I was led to understand that the Scottish Greens were the party that takes the climate change issue seriously. But how can such a claim be compatible with their puerile posturing over the Scottish Government's carbon emission reduction targets? Surely simple logic dictates that it is better to have a 70% target which could be … Continue reading Not quite green, more of a dirty yellow colour*
Being brutish
British politics is brutish. Winner takes all. Losers lose everything. And who the winners and losers are is decided at least as much by the British media as by the result of any poll.
To kneel? Or to stand?
For all Partick Harvie's fine words, the tremulous vacillation and pathetic submissiveness exhibited by Ross Greer reminds us that there is only one political party that is, by virtue of its binding constitution, unequivocally and unconditionally committed to the restoration of Scotland's rightful constitutional status - the Scottish National Party. Whilst all support for the … Continue reading To kneel? Or to stand?
Facile assumptions, fallacies and falsehoods
The Green's failure to capitalise on STV's decision to include them in its pre-election debate line-up is far from an exceptional occurrence. They have form on this kind of thing. I well remember when, during the first referendum campaign, the Scottish Greens officially announced that they were joining Yes Scotland. This should have been an … Continue reading Facile assumptions, fallacies and falsehoods
